Charles Town, WV, June 11, 2018 —American Public University System (APUS) today announced that several alumni of its School of Security & Global Studies and School of Business have been named finalists in the Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) program class of 2018. They comprise part of a select group of 425 individuals chosen from more than 6,000 applicants worldwide, and bring the total number of APUS alumni so recognized to 43 since 2012.

The 2018 APUS finalists include:

  • Patrick Brodigan, Emergency and Disaster Management: Weather Station Chief, US Air Force, Readlyn, Iowa.
  • Timothy Etheridge, Business Administration/Criminal Justice/Homeland Security: Program Assistant, Transportation Security Administration, Meridian, Idaho.
  • Christopher Kundrock, Emergency and Disaster Management: Watch Specialist, District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, Alexandria, Virginia.

“PMF recognition exemplifies the high standards our students set for themselves, both personal and professional,” said APUS Provost Dr. Vernon Smith. “The program supports their collective commitment to contribute to their global community, and directly aligns with APUS’s ongoing mission to help create tomorrow’s leaders.”

Many previous APUS finalists have secured fellowships at government agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and Department of Homeland Security, and each receives mentoring and coaching support through the Department of Career Services.

PMF fellows are offered a two-year leadership development opportunity within the federal government. Established in 1977, the program places fellows in up to 50 agencies across the federal government, providing six-month job rotations, exceptional training opportunities, and access to a cadre of highly-placed government officials.
